Results from California Real Time Network to Baja Earthquake

The California Real Time Network (CRTN) stations picked up the dynamic shaking and coseismic displacements for the earthquake this afternoon in Baja, at a 1 Hz sampling rate. Our closest stations are on the border (see http://sopac.ucsd.edu/projects/realtime/). Looking at the closest stations (P500 and surrounding stations), peak to peak dynamic displacements equaled about 1 m, primarily in North and East directions, and there was about 10 cm of permanent (coseismic) deformation in each horizontal component. These were easily picked up by our early warning system algorithms. Very little deformation in the vertical direction. More details later. We will post results on the GPS Explorer web site operated by JPL and SIO.
