The managing organizations of the California Earthquake Clearinghouse have organized an exercise, as part of Golden Guardian 2012, to test various field data collection tools for use in post-earthquake reconnaissance.
The live test will be today, from 11 am to 2 pm PDT. You can follow the exercise by going to this website: http://www.eqclearinghouse.org/CA/2012-golden-guardian where you can select one of several viewers to see the points that are being added by various investigators.
Even if you did not sign up earlier, you can still participate in this test by adding a data point yourself. Go here: http://www.eqclearinghouse.org/CA/reconnaissance-field-tools/to select and download one of the field tools/apps. If you are at your computer, it may be easiest for you to select one of the web applications: USGS Field Tool, EERI Field Tool, SpotOnResponse or EERI Photo Upload Tool.
It is optional, but it would be helpful to know if you are participating. To let us know,
1. Go to: https://ggex.spotonresponse.com/wap/getprofile.php?UUID=e8973bc2-0de6-4af6-9419-a067c1b4315e
2. At a minimum, enter your first and last name; select "EERI-Research" as your organization and click submit.
3. If you are outside the Los Angeles region: Click Menu at the top left corner, then click "Set Location". Check the "Override Location" box then click "Pasadena, CA" at the bottom of the screen, then click ok.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "M7.6 , Earthquake Southern San Andreas Fault (GGex)" listing at the very bottom. Click "Check In" at the bottom left of the page then click ok.
If you have any questions, contact Maggie@eeri.org or Jon@eeri.org. A link to a quick survey is available http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ggexsurvey to give feedback on your experience.
