Who's online
There are currently 0 users and 1 guest online.
Ok, I will coordinate with them. Or, they can contact me on my cell or satellite phone (once I have one!)
All four Pasadena USGS seismic stations are currently out in the field in Nor Cal with Alan Yong. He will return equipment within 24 hrs to Pasadena office, or we will coordinate a meeting place once we have a deployment plan. An additional 7 stations have been requested from Menlo and will arrive in 24-48 hours.
Hi Sue & Elizabeth,
Paul Davis & Lingsen Meng at UCLA may be interested about participation in Eq. response as they have a small inventory of instruments.
Cheers,
Alan
I have dialed in to the conference call line. --Tran Huynh
We're gathering in Pasadena now!
I'm on standby as well!
- Edric Pauk from SCEC
I'm sending this post to test my ability to post from outside of Pasadena...
I am on standby at SCEC HQ/USC to observe and assist as needed with this exercise. Please email response@scec.org if you have any issues using this site. Good luck with the exercise!
How this works.
Don't thank me yet (MUH HAH HAH HAH HAH)
Thanks, Sue, for organizing.
Thanks to all of the USGS and CGS personnel that posted to the SCEC response site during the May 11 exercise. Through this activity you are promoting a more open collaboration between agency and academic scientists, which will result in a faster and more effective rapid scientific response in the event of a real earthquake. If there is anything that SCEC can do to improve site access or its features, please let me know.
Sincerely,
-Mike Oskin
Leader, SCEC Earthquake Geology Disciplinary Group
Carol is on her way back, we'll deploy north tomorrow.
I will continue to move along strike to south, looking for southern rupture terminus.
CGS field teams have not explored north of A Street in Hayward.
DeLong and Pickering (USGS) collected multiple georeferenced 3D laser scans at Rockett Drive in Fremont.
KNOWN ISSUE:The Clearinghouse is currently experiencing issues with spambots invading our http://www.californiaeqclearinghouse.org/ site. If you have a un/pw for the site, it should still work, but if you are trying to create a new login or alter existing un/pw, you will not be able to. Please contact Anne.Rosinski@conservation.ca.gov for assistance.
Clearinghouse SpotOnResponse Tool is now also available as a Mobile App
If you ALREADY have un/pw to log in to SpotOnResponse - you can simply download the app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and use your existing un/pw; it will recognize you.
If you NEED a un/pw:
Go to this website https://app.spotonresponse.com/index.php
click on “Click here to register for access”
Use the code (case sensitive): operClearHouse
A few more notes on Mobile app functions.
Access USGS Field Notes tool THROUGH SOR:
Use green ”plus +” button to create a new incident OR select an incident that already exists; click on the file icon in the upper left side of window; choose Clearinghouse Field Notes
Please note the Clearinghouse is using this exercise on May 11, 2016, to test the ability to automatically import USGS Field Notes data. During the exercise, the Clearinghouse SpotOnResponse (SOR) tool will be polling the USGS Field Notes data from the Bay Quake Alliance site approximately every 5 minutes, so you may not see your data immediately appear in SOR
Full functionality of SpotOnResponse including more robust offline use, categorization of Updates into Observations, Plans, Resources, and GIS data.
Field teams deployed from Hayward to Fremont. Fault rupture confirmed from S. Grimmer Blvd. in Fremont to A St. in Hayward. 39 cm RL reported over broad zone at Ivy Way and Gardenia Way in Fremont. Total rupture length so far is 23.7 km. Rupture appears to continue to both north and south.
I have handed off to Robert Sickler so please send info to him (please cc' me). Thank you!
His phone number is (650)329-4827 and e-mail is rsickler@usgs.gov

This is Tran Huynh at SCEC HQ -- we are available to assist in today's exercise as needed.
CGS geologists are reporting instances of liquefaction, settlement, and lateral spreads near the Sacramento River near Old Town. Kmzs with photos are attached.
Mike and other interested parties:
CGS is sending geologists to look for surface faulting in the downtown Hayward area. If other groups are being deployed, let us know where. Ken Hudnut (USGS) is coordinating the overflight and imagery aquisition and will need to know the extent of any surface rupture in order to design a flight plan. Our goal for today is to try and have enough infomration regarding the extend of rupture to be alble to relay this to Ken for planning purposes.
Tim
For future, maps like this should include base map information so that field teams would know how to deploy to high probability locations and should either have internal georeferencing (GeoPDF, GeoTIFF) or include coordinate grid in the image.
Talked to Scott Bennett at 11AM, en route to Rocket Drive. His plan is to search for rupture to the south from there. They will update as plans and observations take shape.
USGS Menlo Park is operational with power and internet/phone. Any field deployments, please announce your status and plans by doing a check-in using the Clearinghouse Fieldnotes Web Application.
Instructions
1. Visit http://bayquakealliance.org/fieldnotes/#home
2. For iOS, to make it behave like an app, click the "Add to Home Screen" (click box with up arrow on bottom of Safari page. App will cache and be operational even if you are offline. Once online, you can sync your reports by clicking Sync Records on bottom of Home screen

Any questions, advice for deployment locations for ground failure/ground rupture observations, contact Dan Ponti (650-329-5679; 650-281-9814 (cell), dponti@usgs.gov)
